The Into the Blue Cowes Week Guide

Being based in Cowes 365 days of the year, we thought we could offer our local tips to get you through this year's Lendy Cowes Week.

Dress sense, a word of warning; only the odd few wear red trousers! If you read previous Tatler articles and believed red chinos are a Cowes Week essential then don’t worry, most of the town’s shops have extended opening hours and there are plenty of fantastic brands and boutique local shops where you can pick up something other than red chinos!

Official clothing supplier Musto have both a store and a stand in the town, but nothing beats a local chandlery like Pascall Atkey and Son. Our client Fat Face are going to be running a great golden ticket initiative all week from their shop on the High Street, with lots of prizes up for grabs; so make sure you pop in there.

For that little lovely something, try Live Like This they also have sisters shops; Little Live Like This and Buff of Cowes so there is certainly something for everyone.

For lunch on the go for your crew, it has to be Tiffins of Cowes but we love French Franks coffee and salad boxes too. Another great local find is The Mess-Canteen+Bar; the perfect spot for burgers and jam jar cocktails.

For something a little more exotic Nomad Cowes is street food at its finest. Their ‘shut up and feed me’ menu is the perfect decision maker for those of you in large groups and for Cowes Week, you will find them up at Northwood house cowes as well as on the High Street.

The Coast Bar & Dining Room Cowesis the perfect spot for families or crews, we love their stonebaked pizzas. For something a little more formal then visit their other Cowes spot on Sun Hill. North House offer lovely breakfasts on their stunning terrace and a fantastic atmosphere for fish suppers at their The Oyster Store for dinner.

If you are looking for something further afield then a must visit is the The Little Gloster Restaurant with Rooms in Gurnard; perfect for breakfast on the lawn or to watch one of the famous Gurnard sunsets (alongside amazing food).

For those with kids, Cowes Week’s family day on the Sunday is a must visit. Make sure you grab your spot on the Parade for a visit from Blackgang Chine- Land of Imagination dinosaurs.

Now for the important bit, après sail! As an office of gin lovers, we are big fans of the Fever-Tree pop up in Cowes Yacht Haven. Keeping with the gin theme, Northwood House / ESQ Events Ltd have a Gin Festival throughout the week and this is a great place to relax and enjoy over 100 (yes 100) gins! But, we also love to keep it local, so make sure you visit Sue at the Pier View Cowes for one of their infamous dark and stormys.

Good luck to all the sailors, and of course the lovely crew at Lendy Cowes Week who work tirelessly to pull this world famous regatta together. We hope everyone has a fantastic Cowes Week 2017, it is looking like a windy one!
