Volvo Eco Challenge

Volvo Eco Challenge was originally set up to help sailing clubs become more environmentally friendly and to help them meet required legislation.

The Challenge  

Into the Blue have developed and managed the scheme since it started in 2008 and have worked alongside environmental consultants to provide targeted PR to inform sports clubs of the scheme, offer environmental advice on projects and to promote the scheme which reflects Volvo’s environmental credentials.

The Result 

Television personality Chris Packham was an Ambassador for the Volvo Eco Challenge which presented annual awards totalling £20,000 to sports clubs for projects carried out by young people who are aged between 8 -16.  In 2010 Into the Blue introduced National Geographic Kids Magazine as the official media partner of the Volvo Eco Challenge. The scheme was initially supported by the Royal Yachting Association, since then Into the Blue have further introduced the support of National Sports bodies the England and Wales Cricket Board, the English Golf Union and the Scottish Golf Environment Group.
