Ahead of summer 2012, Into the Blue developed the ‘Sail for Gold’ game for Volvo along with the RYA.
When originally launched the game, available to play online and download on the App store and Google Play, gave players the option to race against a number of the country’s top sailing talent including Sir Ben Ainslie and Paralympic gold medallist, Helena Lucas. The game, helped to raise the profile of the country’s top sailing talent whilst providing a fun but educational game offering non-sailors an idea of the intricacies of sailing.
The game became a key element of the Volvo Sailing Dealer Tour – a challenge was run during the tour with the top 15 highest scoring players being offered an exclusive Volvo Sailing experience, watching some of the top sailors in action.
The Volvo Sail for Gold Game has since been developed and updated with new functionality to keep it fresh and relevant. It regularly makes an appearance at the Volvo Sailing Academies and events which take place around the UK and is popular with children and adults alike, both sailors and non-sailors.
