The America’s Cup World Series (ACWS) event took place in Portsmouth 23-26 July 2015 and 21–24 July 2016. Sir Keith Mills, one of the driving forces behind the London Olympics and the Invictus Games, and his Team Origin company, have won the rights to stage the America’s Cup World Series on British waters. The battle will commence in the historic maritime city of Portsmouth, the home of Sir Ben Ainslie’s BAR British challenger, for the world’s most sought after sailing trophy. The staging of the ACWS on the famous waters of the Solent, where the Cup began in 1851, will provide an unrivalled platform to showcase British technology, innovation and expertise as well as demonstrating the sailing and technical talent that surrounds America’s Cup racing.
