38,739 nautical miles, 11 ports and mother nature’s most extreme conditions make the Volvo Ocean Race one of the toughest, most gruelling sailing challenges in the world. This is where the elite of the sailing profession battle it out on the most treacherous oceans in a nine-month marathon on the seas, passing through four oceans and five continents. The race is an exceptional test of sailing prowess and human endeavour where the athletes push themselves to the limit of endurance in what is commonly referred to as the ‘Everest of Sailing’. Over the duration of the race, the crews experience life at the extreme: no fresh food, temperature variations from -15 to +40 degrees Celsius and only take one change of clothes on board. They trust their lives to the skipper and each other and experience hunger and severe sleep deprivation.


Into the Blue were Volvo Car Group’s client support agency for the 2014/2015 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race, providing full time support and liaison between the Race organisers and Volvo Car Group’s national sales companies worldwide. Into the Blue’s role was to bring the race to life on a regional basis and to maximise the impact of the Race for the brand locally.


Into the Blue had a dedicated PR resource working within the Volvo Ocean Race Comms team to provide news, stories and content directly to the national sales companies from the race stopovers.


Volvo Round the Island Kitesurf - Bridge Family World Record Attempt - 2016

Into the Blue assisted in the organisation and communications of the World Record attempts with Volvo-sponsored kitesurfing family 'Team Bridge'. The event was an emphatic success with four new World Records being set by one family in one day!
